East Junior School heads outdoors for Learning Week

· By East Campus Communications

Grade 2 to 5 students at East Campus traded classrooms for the outdoors this term, spending four days at Chestnut Lodge as part of the Junior School's annual Learning Week programme. Beyond the hiking trails and kayaking sessions, the week was built around UWCSEA's outdoor education philosophy: that resilience, self-reliance and care for others are best taught through shared, slightly uncomfortable experiences.

"You watch a student who was nervous about the ropes course on Monday helping a friend across the same obstacle by Thursday," said one of the accompanying Junior School teachers. "That's the whole point."

Evening reflection circles gave students space to connect the week's activities back to the UWCSEA Learning Principles, particularly around collaboration and personal challenge.
